Sold in Israel in March almost 2 times more than in China (Photo: Keinan Cohen)
Last month, 85 Eways electric crossovers, the U5, hit the roads of Israel.
In China, on the other hand, 32 were sold. Geely Geometric C delivered in Israel in March 902 units of its electric crossover, and in China only slightly more, 923 units.
This is according to data from the Israel Automobile Importers Association and the Private Car Manufacturers Association in China, whose population is 150 times larger than Israel's, and whose automobile market is 100 times larger.
How is it that a Chinese car is sold more in small Israel than in its home market?
Eways is still a start-up, which is currently export-focused.
Geely has already started selling the facelift version of the Geometric C in China, under the name M6, at the same time as the outgoing model, and delivered 123 units of it last month.

In the first three months of the year, 17,384 cars of Chinese brands were delivered in Israel, about 80% of which are electric, bringing them to a market share of 16.4%.
If you also add to the calculation the 500 Tesla Model 3 models delivered in Israel during that period and produced in Shanghai, the market share of the Chinese rises to 17%.
Looking at the list of the best-selling electric models in China, it appears that the BYD Eto 3 is the only model that enjoys similar success in both markets.
In Israel, this is the best-selling electric vehicle, and the best-selling in general, with more than 5,200 deliveries this year, and only 160 in March.
In China, it is the second best-selling electric vehicle, under the name BYD Yuan Plus, with 27,909 units in March.
Tesla Model Y was the best-selling electric car there with 54,937 units, while in Israel 700 units were delivered last month.
