The craze for unopened

original iPhones

continues and has more and more followers.

These devices, so sought after by collectors, often present exorbitant prices at different auctions,

such as the recent one that exceeded $60,000

.

But for the youtuber

Marques Brownlee

, known as MKBHD, it seems that nothing is impossible when it comes to generating content.

With almost 17 million followers on the Google video platform, MKBHD did not hesitate to shell out $40,000 in an auction to keep an original iPhone and thus record its most recent video, which to date has 1.3 million views.

I Spent $40,000 to Unbox a Sealed Original iPhone!

One of the concerns with this type of sealed and unopened iPhone is that it's all a hoax.

Let's remember that the first generation of the cell phone developed by Apple went on the market in 2007 and 6 million units were sold, so it is very difficult to find an original one.

In fact, as MKBHD recounts in his video, many youtubers who wanted to buy the first Apple smartphone with its original seal found that they were used and were even reconditioned to sell them for thousands of dollars.

However, Marques Brownlee's looked like a sealed and unused one.

Many pass off their first-generation used iPhone for a new one to sell it for thousands of dollars.

Another fact that accounted for the originality of this device was in

the serial code that was never activated

, at least according to official records.

Even the stickers were carefully placed, just like Apple does.

Once the box was opened,

the iPhone took several hours to charge:

the battery had never been used in 16 years.

But, in addition, the iPhone has the original version of iOS, then known as iPhone OS 1.0.

There are not many iPhones left with that version since iPhone OS 2.0 was introduced to the App Store and the vast majority of original iPhones available are in a more current version.

What was the first iPhone like?

From its embryonic and secret phase under the codename Purple, the first-generation iPhone was conceived to be one of Apple's iconic products.

It was a collaborative venture between Steve Jobs and design guru Jony Ive.

It was destined to be a great success, which could only be translated as a nightmare for those who had to create it.

Therefore, the secret behind this innovative product led to very few workers knowing about the project, which was developed in a hidden Apple laboratory.

According to Andy Grignon, one of the key engineers in the development of the iPhone, they were given "an impossible delivery date and an impossible mission" and then told that "the entire company depended on them."

The original iPhone or iPhone 2G was launched on June 29, 2007. Back then it had just a 3.50-inch 320 x 480 screen, with a 412 MHz processor, 128 MB of RAM and a 2-megapixel rear camera.
