It's not that "Wonderland" didn't try to bite, but if you had to pick one thing that distinguished the twentieth season of "Wonderland", it was the fact that it presented a softened version of reality

If you have to choose one thing that will distinguish the twentieth season of "Great Country", something that will make us remember it from all its predecessors, it is surely the fact that, contrary to the rules of satire, it presented a softened and saner version of reality.

It's not that she didn't try to bite (I'll mention again the skit in which members of Otzma Yehudit reenact the Rabin murder), these are simply the people behind the characters who proved every day that they are much more extreme, grotesque and unpredictable than the talented writing team of "Artez".

Take for example Tali Gottlieb, without a doubt the character of the season and a wonderful work by the very talented Liat Har Lev, who was a bit lost in the previous seasons.

No matter how disturbing and extreme the texts written for her sounded to us, the real Gottlieb said harsher things.

Even the show's excellent makeup and costumes department had a hard time standing up to the clownish styling and makeup of the Likud Knesset member who, as her character in the show said yesterday, "has only been in our lives for a year" but it undoubtedly feels much, much longer.

If you follow the real Gottlieb on Twitter, you've probably seen that she managed to tweet against the program and called it "disgusting auto-anti-Semitism in left-wing propaganda" because in the alternative reality we live in, where signs like "traitorous leftists" and chants of "go back to Auschwitz" are not condemned by the prime minister, everything going

Reality wins.

The alternative beacon ceremony that was presented yesterday, in which the state of Israel split into two - the state of 'El' led by Netanyahu and the state of 'Israel' led by Yair Lapid, Ehud Barak and the protest leader Shakma Bresler - was endearing, but as stated, reality has already defeated it by knockout.

The idea of the split that stands behind it has already happened here in practice when the "state" ceremony from Mount Herzl felt irrelevant to many Israelis who preferred to go to the demonstration in Kaplan or simply not watch the show of flattery led by Miri Regev.

Speaking of Regev, the character of Samo that started as an imitation very far from the original became over the years more and more similar to Sarah herself and not because Samo tried to adapt.

Who among us would have believed until a few years ago that a minister in the Israeli government would sit next to the prime minister's wife and let her know when she was seen on the screen during the broadcast?

The characters of Aki Avni and Moran Atias did not succeed in surpassing the plasticity of the original, but the statement according to which who is more suitable to lead the Independence Day ceremony of two Israelis who tried to succeed abroad"

Not only Tali Gottlieb.

Netanyahu's supporters already marked "Wonderful Land" as a red sheet years ago.

Not surprising when it comes to Keshet 12's flagship program, which they hatefully call "Al Jazeera 12" (creative from the creative house of Prime Minister Yair Netanyahu's son), but the truth is that "Eretz" is constantly trying to walk between the cracks.

Yesterday, for example, she avoided touching on the unimaginable shame that the Netanyahu government is responsible for, which is the desecration of the Memorial Day ceremonies.

The cursing and violence that took place in the cemetery in Be'er Sheva, where Itamar Ben Gabir arrived, found themselves outside the program's lineup.

True, there is nothing even half funny to say about the situation, but this is exactly where Eretz should leave us with a segment that will punch us in the stomach.

Instead, we received Minister Goldknopf directing yeshiva students in an unnecessary pennant ceremony that together form the shape of a cock.

Also the imitation of retired Supreme Court President Aharon Barak who lit a torch at a ceremony of the State of Israel,

Felt like a stubborn attempt to present a more balanced picture that would also appeal to viewers who support the legal revolution.

Balance is important, especially on the leading commercial channel in Israel, but it seems that before trying to please everyone, Eretz could have exposed a lot more teeth.

For example, a skit about the filthiness of the Holocaust memorial and the martyrs of the IDF.

To make the program easier, we also received a panel of Eurovision winners who came to the studio to advise Noa Kirel before traveling to the competition.

The characters of Yizhar Cohen (Eli Finish) and Gali Atari (Roi Bar Natan) have long been classics of the show and the kind of moments in which the viewer bursts into uncontrollable laughter regardless of what is said on the screen (especially Atari/Bar Natan's iconic "Her name?").

Shani Cohen, who introduced us to Dana International in the "Dana Kama" version, did a good job in presenting a more recent character of the biggest diva of them all, and I hope that maybe next season we will get to see a little more of her character and maybe even together with other characters from the show like Shai Kerem and of course sister Limor.

The character of Neta Barzilai, played by Tom Yaer, stood out for the worse when she presented a superficial version far from reality that mainly used physical characteristics to cover up a real lack of punches.

"Wonderful Country" loves its outdoor skits.

They are always the invested and artistic part of the program that brought us, among other things, the turtles and the hi-tech skit series.

This is her time to distance herself from the politicians and talk about broader phenomena in Israeli society.

This season it worked less for them, despite the noticeable investment and the always welcome presence of Tamir Bar, the "Simple Garden Gang" skit series was a big miss, as was the skit on the construction of the third temple that aired yesterday and felt like a lot of subtext without real jokes.

Fortunately, it doesn't end without "being good".

Aviv Gefen, who just lost his father Yonatan Gefen a few days ago, came to the studio for a joint performance with the program team of "Yahya Tov", the song his father wrote in what seems like another reality, against the background of the peace agreement talks with Egypt and the visit of Egyptian President Sadat to Israel.

Something in this beautiful performance was supposed to be comfort and above all hope for a better future, but the truth is that he felt that the program team also did

A digression that he doesn't necessarily believe in.

will it be good

In the current state of affairs, it might have been better to be satisfied with the hope that by the next season of "Great Country" there will be something here at all.
