The opening for the new season of Sorrow of Raising Girls (Disney General Entertainment Content)
I wonder where
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen
would be today if the star of the series "
The Sorrow of Raising Girls
", John Stamos, had not reversed his decision to fire them when they were only 11 months old.
In fact, according to him, they didn't even know that they were fired and that he was almost to blame for the loss of their Hollywood careers.
John Stamos
recently revealed that he could no longer deal with the twins' incessant crying on set and arranged for them to be fired.
After they were replaced by an even more problematic pair of twins - he asked to return them.
The Olsen twins starred in all eight seasons of the sitcom alongside
Bob Saget
(Danny Tanner) and John Staimos (Jesse Katsopolis) - but their entire futures could change.
Speaking to Josh Peck and Ben Sofer on the Good Guys podcast, Staimos explained that he had a hard time working with the 11-month-old twins when he shared a scene with
Dave Collier
, who played Joey Gladstone, in the first episode of the series.
"We're doing the scene. Joey and I switched to baby girl, yeah? And Danny went and said, 'Keep an eye on the kids'. 'Yeah, we're on it. We're on it,'" Staimos said.
In the episode, Jesse and Joey tried to change Michelle's diaper in the kitchen, but Staimos said filming was very difficult because Mary-Kate and Ashley were crying non-stop.
The 59-year-old star said: "So we take the baby downstairs and we take her to the kitchen and clean her up - and she screams. They both screamed. They wanted to be anywhere else but there - and so did I."
This is how it looked then
Staimos said he remained frustrated because the producers kept switching between the babies and promising that they wouldn't cry.
He said: "They were 11 months old and may God bless them. They kept switching between them: 'You won't cry.'
He added: "So they brought in these two red-haired girls... I'm sure their parents loved them and thought they were gorgeous. Redheads are really hit or miss. Either they're gorgeous or you keep them in your closet ".

Peck then asked Staimos if the Olsen twins knew they had been fired.
"Well, they know that now," Staimos replied.
"It was only for a few days and I said: 'Bring back the Olsens! These girls are terrible'."
Thanks to the series, Mary Kate and Ashley quickly became Hollywood's favorite stars and one of the most famous duos in the industry.

This was not the first time that there was almost an explosion on the set of "Grief Raising Girls".
In 2022, it was revealed that Staimos and Saget - who died in January of that year aged 65 - often clashed on set.
"He was a comedian. If there was even one person on the set, he had to make them laugh," Staimos recalled, adding that the late comedian "could be painfully distracting and non-stop interrupting."
The two eventually found common ground and became friends.
Staimos even delivered the eulogy at his funeral.
