As a police officer, you experience a lot on the job - but there are events that one or the other officer will probably not forget for the rest of his life.

These can be funny things, like a VW being stopped with a casserole dish used as an oil pan.

Strange things also happen, such as a bus driver who went off the road three times in 90 minutes.

And some incidents are mostly remembered for brazen behavior, like an annoyed SUV driver who overtook a garbage truck across the sidewalk and hit a worker in the process.

Police officers in North Rhine-Westphalia will probably be talking about a crazy chase with a stolen wheel loader for a long time to come.

"Absolutely ruthless on a collision course": Young people fool the police for 30 minutes with a stolen wheel loader

As reported by the police, witnesses in Eitorf (Rhein-Sieg district) reported around 2:20 a.m. a wheel loader driving around.

Steering?

Apparently two teenagers.

A patrol set off and soon encountered the stolen Volvo wheel loader.

Behind the wheel: a 16-year-old, next to his 15-year-old passenger.

The officials switched on the flashing lights and gave the signal to stop - but this did not affect the two wheel loader drivers at all.

Unimpressed, they continued their journey at a speed of between 20 and 30 km/h.

The police took up the pursuit.

Young people steal wheel loaders - and try to ram patrol cars

We continued through parking lots and forestry paths - and it became more and more dangerous.

According to the police, the 16-year-old kept trying to ram the patrol car and force it off the road.

A courtyard gate and a park bench were damaged.

The 16-year-old, who had gone mad, also ignored red traffic lights – and an oncoming car had to swerve onto the grass verge to avoid a head-on collision.

Highly risky driving style: the police cannot avoid young people in wheel loaders

According to the police, it was not possible to overtake the wheel loader, which weighed around 6.5 tons, because the driver was "absolutely ruthless on a collision course".

A patrol car was damaged by a ramming attack.

In order to shake off the officers, the duo of thieves finally ducked into a field with the wheel loader.

The chase had now lasted more than half an hour and several patrol cars were now involved.

The police officers positioned their vehicles in such a way that it was hardly possible for the fugitives to return to paved roads.

When trying to bypass the 16-year-old then slipped into a ditch with the wheel loader - and got stuck.

Young people deliver crazy action in the stolen cyclist - and can only be stopped by tear gas

The two youngsters still didn't think about giving up.

With the front loader they tried to get out of the muddled situation - which is why it was too dangerous for the officers to approach.

Only the use of tear gas led to the successful arrest of the recalcitrant duo.

And even then they insulted a female officer.

The two young people went to the police station and their parents were informed of the incident.

Now the traffic commissioner is investigating a dangerous intervention in road traffic.

By the way, there was a similarly daring chase with a wheel loader in Australia some time ago - here it even took an hour before the police were able to stop the man.
