Apple, behind you: Microsoft are working on their own new processor for Windows 12 - voila! technology

According to reports from several technology blogs in the world (which rely on Windows Latest), Microsoft has expanded the team working on the development of a home-made processor, which will provide an answer to Apple's M series.

Similar to Apple's chip, Microsoft's "system of a chip" will also be based on ARM processor designs, found in almost every smartphone.

The development of the new processor will be done at the same time as the development of the new Windows 12 operating system, to ensure full compatibility with the new chip.

This report is based on some Microsoft job ads, and an analysis of them.

The job offer says that the new developer will work for Microsoft's "silicon team", and will engage in development for the Azure cloud platform, Xbox, Surface and the HoloLens mixed reality glasses using "silicon components internally developed by Microsoft".

Admittedly, there is a certain jump in conclusions from job descriptions for development purposes, but if you combine this with Microsoft's confirmation that Windows 12 will fully support the ARM architecture, there is a good chance that Microsoft is developing its own answer to Apple's M2 and perhaps the soon-to-be-revealed M3.

Considering the fact that Microsoft has already tried its hand with branded chips under its own roof, such as the SQ1, followed by the SQ3 that was presented in this year's Surface 9 models and performed quite well. They were developed together with Qualcomm - when Qualcomm does the Most of the development of the processor, and were based on the Snapdragon 8CX.
