WhatsApp beta experimenters on Android were surprised to find that they suddenly have the ability to send text and voice messages directly from their smartwatch. The feature has been added to version 2.23.10.10, which is still in beta, and reportedly currently includes support for Pixel and Galaxy Watch 5 watches. Meta had previously offered a version of Android-based watches, but shelved it. Since then, Android users have only been able to view messages within the general notification system, but not respond or reply to the message directly or initiate a new message.
With the new Watch app, users can browse through their recent conversations, conversation history, and reply with text or voice message. There are a few more tiles, which allow access to contacts, and one dedicated to voice messages, alongside unread messages. However, it is not currently possible to initiate a new message to confirm a connection that was not found in recent conversations.

We also note that in the next upgrade version, we will probably add the ability to edit sent messages to correct typos and the like, and this feature will come to both Android and iOS. Judging by the web app in which the capability currently appears in a trial version, notifications can be edited up to 15 minutes after they are sent.
