He wanted to "be of service." A suspect in the fatal intoxication in early April in Saint-Etienne of a railway worker, who had drunk a liquid containing cocaine, was indicted Thursday for drug trafficking and placed under judicial control.

According to information from Le Parisien, he was arrested Tuesday on the public road near his home and then placed in custody. During the searches, investigators discovered the clothes the man was wearing at his home on the day of the incident.

Only served at first, the SNCF station agent had died a quarter of an hour after taking a sip of the liquid composed of cocaine and levamisole, a veterinary dewormer used as a cutting product by drug traffickers. The 41-year-old was the father of two.

The suspect was carrying a bag "to help"

Confronted with CCTV recordings while in custody, the suspect admitted to having carried a bag "to render service" without knowing what it contained. He also gave no details on the person who would have entrusted him with the bag or on the person to whom he should have given it at the station of Lyon Part-Dieu, the place scheduled for delivery.

The victim was part of a group of four SNCF agents who had decided to drink a liquid stored in an abandoned bag in the hall of the Châteaucreux train station, instead of depositing it among the objects found. The toxic liquid was in one of two 1.5-litre soft bag-in-boxes stored in the bag and labelled with a punch producer's brand. A bottle bearing the same silkscreen was found at the suspect's home, according to information from Le Parisien.
