Overloaded or poorly secured trailers are part of everyday life for the police. Now, however, the officials in Thuringia stopped a particularly curious "team".
Anyone who has to deal with drivers on a daily basis as a police officer experiences a lot. Sometimes it quickly becomes dangerous, such as recently when two teenagers stole a wheel loader and had a wild chase with the officers. Sometimes, however, the experiences are of a rather curious nature, such as a Porsche that was stopped with a kind of James Bond license plate or a VW that was on the road with a casserole dish as an oil pan. Now the police in Thuringia made an unusual discovery.
"Adventurous team": 86-year-old in a Ford station wagon tows garbage can
According to the officials, a patrol between Woffleben and Niedersachswerfen spotted a Ford station wagon with a curious appendage. The police officers of the Nordhausen inspection service would not have believed their eyes: In tow, the station wagon had a garbage can. The "adventurous team" was stopped.
Garbage can full: 86-year-old simply hangs it on the car – "You just have to know how to help yourself"
The 86-year-old driver's explanation for his transport action was relatively simple: the garbage can was full and he now wanted to drive it to a disposal point and empty it. Even if the towing capacity of the station wagon was certainly not exceeded by the bin, as was recently the case with a Tesla pulling a wheel loader behind it – the garbage can trailer did not comply with the regulations, of course. "You just have to know how to help yourself," one user commented on the police's Facebook post.

The journey with the barrel in tow was then over at this point. As the police reported, other road users were not endangered according to initial findings. Unlike an annoyed SUV driver who recently overtook a garbage truck on the sidewalk and hit a worker in the process.
