Anyone who configures a new car has to wait a relatively long time for it at the moment. But there are also some vehicles that can be delivered relatively quickly.
Basically, everything is always a question of perspective. For example, if you wanted to buy a Wartburg or a Trabant in the GDR, you needed one thing above all: patience. A waiting period of several years for a new car was completely normal there. Nobody was thrilled about it. It's much faster these days – even if a little more waiting time had to be planned in recent years. The main reasons are still the consequences of the Corona pandemic and the Ukraine war. Manufacturers are still preoccupied with chip shortages and other delays in supply chains.
Long delivery times for new cars: what are the alternatives?
For many models, delivery times are currently well over a year. If you want to get a car faster, you now have several options: You reach for a new car that is already at the dealership – or maybe even a used car that has been driven a little. The disadvantage is obvious: here you have to take what is available at the moment. So if you value a special color or a certain equipment detail, you may have to search for a very long time.

Delivery times for new cars: Which models are available relatively quickly
But there are also new vehicles that currently (as of May 2023) have relatively short delivery times. According to the online new car exchange Carwow, the following models are available relatively quickly:

---|---|

Dacia Sandero | from 5 months / on average 5 months |
Skoda Karoq | from 6 months / on average 7 months |
Mercedes-Benz EQE | from 4 months / on average 5 months |
Toyota Yaris Cross | from 5 months / on average 7 months |
Tesla Model Y | 1 to 5 months |
Nissan Ariya | 6 months |
Citroen e-C4 | 4 to 5 months |
VW T-Roc | 3 to 9 months |

Configuring new cars: How they may shorten delivery times
As the online new car exchange further explains, the delivery time for some new vehicles can also be shortened – by dispensing with certain equipment details, the components of which are currently difficult to obtain. According to Carwow, these include two-tone paintwork, all-wheel drive, alloy wheels, assistance packages and glass sunroofs. Here, of course, it is important to weigh up how much the renunciation of a certain option is in the long run.
