Apps to load the SUBE card with the cell phone: how to use them to avoid more lines

2023-05-19T10:39:09.213Z

Highlights: The Single Electronic Ticket System (SUBE) can be charged from a cell phone. The best known method is through the "Carga SUBE" app. An alternative for those who do not have phones is the "UBE Mobile Connection" app, which is credited with an external device. The app allows you to credit the outstanding balances that have been purchased by any means to the card. It is possible to do it even seconds before boarding the bus or going through the subway or train turnstile.

They have no additional cost, although one needs an external device.

The problems that may appear when charging the SUBE card, such as the system crash in many terminals or having to make long lines to access a charging station, can be solved from a cell phone.

Before there were two ways to load the Single Electronic Ticket System (SUBE) in urban means of transport: go to a kiosk or self-service machine and pay at the moment or make the virtual load from home, although you had to go then to an automatic terminal to validate it.

In both cases, users had to leave their home, at least until the appearance of the mobile recharge system in 2018 that, mainly, made it possible to turn the phone into the same validator that is in train stations and buses.

Charging the SUBE card can also be done with a much more practical option. A method that allows both the purchase of the balance and its crediting on the card 100% with a cell phone. It is possible to do it even seconds before boarding the bus or going through the subway or train turnstile.

These direct recharges of the SUBE have no additional cost. But they do require having a mobile device with NFC technology, necessary to interact with the card; in addition to installing the corresponding special application.

It can be done from the web or application of the bank in which you have a savings bank. Also from services such as Pagomiscuentas.com or virtual wallets such as Mercado Pago, Ualá, NaranjaX or Personal Pay.

Before making the payment you must make sure you have entered the card number correctly. The minimum upload amount on many of the platforms ranges from $60 to $300, while the cap can reach $4000.

The important thing is that, whatever the sum, for it to be recognized in the means of transport it must first be credited on the card. This is materialized by supporting it in one of the automatic terminals that are in the stations, or in a cell phone or mobile device of the passenger connected to the system by internet.

The best known method and that does not need alternative devices, or charging stations, is through the "Carga SUBE" app. Of course, it can only be used by those who have a cell phone with NFC technology (acronym in English of "near field communication") and Android 4.3 or higher system.

To make the charge effective, you have to activate the NFC mode of the cell phone. The option appears, in general, in the same menu that is displayed from the "ceiling" of the screen for example to activate Wi-Fi or airplane mode. If it is not there, look for it in "Settings", among the connectivity settings.

Having the smartphone connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or mobile data, open the SUBE Charge app, enter "Credit charges" and rest the card on the phone, always on the back side.

The recharge of SUBE card balance can be done from virtual wallets, such as Mercado Pago.

Then you will have to wait a few seconds without moving the card until the system looks for the pending charges for the SUBE card, confirms that you managed to credit them and shows the new balance.

To all this, the SUBE Load app allows, by supporting the card on the phone itself, to check the current balance instantly by pressing the "View Balance" button.

Also, with the option "Load SUBE", it facilitates access to different wallet-apps with which you can pay for recharges.

And finally, the app allows you to credit the outstanding balances that have been purchased by any means to the card.

An alternative for those who do not have NFC phones is the "SUBE Mobile Connection" app. In this case, charging is credited with an external device connected to the smartphone, tablet or PC with a USB cable.

Basically, this device is a small SUBE card reader that will allow you to credit an electronic load that is made through homebanking, applications such as TodoPago or Mercado Pago and ATMs. You can also check the balance of your card and see the details of the charges you have made.

To start using it you just have to connect the reader to your computer, a cell phone or tablet through a USB cable. Then, download the dedicated application from the Google Play digital store for Android phones, and the respective one for Windows. So far, iOS devices do not have support to use this service.

This "Mobile Connection" device, as they called, allows you to validate up to 10 charges per day and not necessarily from the same card, so it can be shared with family, friends or colleagues. In Mercado Libre you can get from 16,900 pesos.
