Galit Gutman on Keshet 12's morning show criticizes the ultra-Orthodox (Keshet 12)
The statement - and the storm: Presenter Galit Gutman caused a storm on Friday morning on the broadcast of the morning program Keshet 12, which she hosts alongside Yoav Limor, when she said, referring to the protest demonstration in Bnei Brak this week that "the ultra-Orthodox suck our blood." During the broadcast, she said: "How much of a burden can you put on a third of this country in order to hold all these haredim who suck our blood?"
Chairman of the Torah Judaism faction MK Yitzhak Pindros attacked Gutman: "Even in Labour in Britain they removed a member of parliament who called the 'Talmudic Jews' bloodsucking. They, too, understand that Goebbels' jargon is always unacceptable, and under no circumstances I will come to the studios of News 12 until this despicable incitement is dealt with."
Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Tradition Meir Frosh said: "In difficult times, when our society is under enormous tension and winds are turbulent, there are those who choose to pour oil on the fire by wild and dangerous incitement. If we do not draw the red line, here and now, we may end up with acts of violence against kippah-wearers, and we have seen such things before. I call on the leaders of the secular public, Gantz, Lapid, Michaeli and Lieberman, to stop the outbreak of incitement before it is too late."
Journalist Yishai Cohen tweeted: "Galit Gutman, you are proving that we are going through dangerous and frightening processes. And all based on lies. Not mentioning a dark time, we are now in a dark period. Here's a reminder of who uses your word style and whom."
Satirist Manny Asayag tweeted: "Auto-anti-Semitism is really thin. They can ask the terrible Galit Gutman. Bring a bag of vomit before watching, and then share as much as possible, so that as many Jews as possible understand what terrible communication we have here in Jewish Israel."
