Three young men were wounded by a knife Saturday in Nancy against a background of settling scores, resulting in the custody of four Chechens, said Sunday the secretary general of the prefecture of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
Saturday evening, "about fifteen vehicles and forty people from the Chechen community burst into the Haut-du-Lièvre district with a desire to fight and attacked young people at random, according to the testimonies of the inhabitants of the district," said Julien Le Goff, sub-prefect and secretary general of the prefecture.

"The violence could have been much greater without the strong and rapid presence of the police," he said, adding that the three young victims were "slightly injured".
Revenge?
This episode of violence came after the attack a few days ago on a teenager of Chechen origin, which triggered a desire for revenge.
About thirty police officers, who were on alert, arrived quickly on the spot Saturday night, proceeding to the arrest of four Chechens, placed in custody.
"Many families were scared all week"
"It is a situation of high tension that calls for a reinforced presence of the police," said the mayor (PS) of Nancy Mathieu Klein, who went to the scene on Saturday. "Many families were afraid throughout the week that their children would be caught in settling scores," he said, explaining that he understood the "very strong emotion" in this usually "quiet" neighborhood.

"It is unacceptable and unacceptable to take the law into one's own hands" and "everything will be done to bring to justice the perpetrators of the stabbings," said sub-prefect Julien Le Goff.
Half a company of CRS must support Sunday reinforced police personnel in the district of Haut-du-Lièvre and in the neighboring commune of Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, where lives a Chechen community.
