British actor Ray Stevenson, who starred in dozens of films and series, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 58. Stevenson played a leading role in the HBO and BBC drama series Roma, as well as Vikings. He also starred in the films "Punisher: War Zone" and in the hit film "RRR". Stevenson died in Italy, but the cause of his death was not disclosed.
Stevenson was born in Northern Ireland but moved to England as a child. At the age of 27 he studied acting and since then has participated in dozens of films, series and plays. In 2004, he made his Hollywood film debut, playing the Knight Dagonet in a film based on the tales of King Arthur. Later he acted in other series and films, such as "The Chosen One" and "The Other Guys". In 2011, he appeared in Thor as Volstag, a role he also played in the sequels Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
In 2012, Stevenson appeared in a supporting role in the seventh season of Dexter, in 2018 he played in Medici, and in 2020 he played Uther in Vikings.
