One denounces a "huge omerta" and tells of living "a hell". Another believes "not to have been supported". Several women denouncing sexual assaults of the actor Gérard Depardieu testified this Tuesday with their faces uncovered on BFMTV. Among them, the actress Charlotte Arnould, who accuses the actor Gérard Depardieu of rapes committed in 2018, who tells a difficult daily life since the alleged facts.

According to her account, she was a victim on August 7, 2018, when she was only 23 years old, committed by Gérard Depardieu, a friend of her father, then 69 years old. She then says she waited several days to file a complaint. "I tell myself that I'm dead, that my life is over. (...) I feel dead. I know that something very serious has happened, but I will take a little time to integrate it and make it aware. That's where I'm going to go and file a complaint," says the young woman, who was suffering from anorexia at the time.

Although it was heard by the police in the summer of 2018, Charlotte Arnould's complaint was closed following 2019, after nine months of preliminary investigation. "I didn't expect it and I'm collapsing. It was such an ordeal this preliminary investigation that I tell myself I stop, "she testifies.

A "terrible injustice"

Since the tragedy, the actress says she suffers daily from post-traumatic stress, which manifests itself in anorexia, bulimia, hyperphagia. She also says she suffers from periods of scarification, alcohol or drug abuse.

In 2020, the case concerning Gérard Depardieu was reopened, leading to the indictment of the actor for "rape" and "sexual assault", and leaving him free without judicial control. An indictment that does not put in difficulty his career, since the famous actor is on the poster of Umami, film released last week.

Enough to give Charlotte Arnould a feeling of "terrible injustice", while her public speech "has repercussions on her career". "My life is like nothing anymore. I've been living in hell for five years," she adds.
