Thirty-eight migrants were taken into custody Thursday for "violence in assembly" after three gendarmes were injured, according to the Saint-Omer prosecutor's office. The police wanted to prevent a boat from setting sail in Oye-Plage (Pas-de-Calais).
These three gendarmes were circulating in buggy when they were stoned Thursday morning by migrants, which led to the loss of control of their vehicle, said AFP this source, confirming information from La Voix du Nord.
"Three- and six-day ITTs"
"The windshield of one of the buggies burst following the throwing of a stone" and it "swerved in soft sand, causing it to overturn," said the prosecutor. The attack "continued on the three gendarmes trapped in the buggy before a quick intervention of their colleagues to free them".
These three gendarmes, who "suffer from injuries to the limbs and skull", have "not been hospitalized", but "two have ITTs of three and six days". Police custody was still ongoing Thursday night, "all people are interviewed" and "images exploited to establish the exact implications," said the prosecutor.
