A man was placed in custody Thursday afternoon after the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in Roppentzwiller (Haut-Rhin) earlier in the day, Le Parisien learned from a source close to the case.
The daughter of the victims had been alerted by neighbors who had not heard from the couple since the day before and heard dogs barking inside the home, according to firefighters. The gendarmes went to the scene and discovered the body of this 50-year-old woman and her 55-year-old husband.
The trail of femicide followed by suicide ruled out
If they considered for a time the trail of a murder and then a suicide, the investigators were put on the trail of the intervention of a third party after having made the findings on the crime scene.
Their suspicions soon fell on the ex-husband of the woman killed. The suspect, still in custody, is a police officer in the Bas-Rhin according to our information and would already be known to the justice for acts of domestic violence, involved in two proceedings.
