Italy and Austria are among the countries in Europe where motorists are asked to pay for the use of the roads. However, the toll systems are very different. In Austria, there is a general vignette requirement. With the sticker, all journeys are compensated. Only for some tunnels and passes do drivers have to pay extra. In Italy, on the other hand, the toll is paid per section of the route, which can quickly become a cost trap.
