The fact that BMW is the abbreviation for Bayerische Motoren Werke should be widely known – but do you know when the manufacturer was founded? You can test your knowledge in our quiz.

Are you convinced that the BMW logo represents a stylized propeller? Then you are unfortunately wrong. It's arguably one of the most persistent rumors surrounding an automaker. Although it is true that BMW emerged from the Munich-based aircraft engine manufacturer Rapp Motorenwerke, the logo does not show a rotating propeller. The myth arose mainly from a BMW advertisement from 1929: For the advertisement of an aircraft engine that BMW produced under license, the logo was "mounted" into the propeller. You were already aware of all this? Then try our ten-question quiz about the Munich-based carmaker.

Powertrain technology: BMW keeps all options open

While many manufacturers are currently relying almost exclusively on electric drives, the Munich-based carmaker is still keeping all options open. BMW CEO Oliver Zipse sees great opportunities in the future, especially in hydrogen technology. In fact, the Bavarians have started production of a fuel cell vehicle: the BMW iX5 Hydrogen. Zipse also warns against focusing solely on one drive technology.

BMW, on the other hand, has had to endure a lot of criticism on social media for some time now – because of the design. With the "giant kidney in portrait format", as it is carried by many new models of the manufacturer, many fans can still not make friends. Some studies, such as the most recent i Vision Dee, which BMW showed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, were also not particularly well received with their design.
