Surprising drama in Pont-de-Beauvoisin. The lifeless body of a 12-year-old girl was found by rescue services Sunday in the Guiers River, according to information from the Dauphiné Libéré. They had been looking for him for about three hours.

The girl was bathing in the river in Pont-de-Beauvoisin, on the border between Savoy and Isère. She was with her 14-year-old older sister and two friends. France Bleu reports that this bathing place is risky: it is near a hydroelectric plant, which causes eddies in the water.

Trapped in the vortices

Around 16:30 p.m., eddies formed in the river, near the group of young people. Three of them, including the 12-year-old girl, were swimming at the time, reports France Bleu. Two of the three manage to escape by taking refuge on rocks, but the girl is sucked in.

Forewarned, the firefighters of Isère and Savoie go to the scene and begin their search. They are accompanied by aquatic rescuers, says France Bleu. Unfortunately, they discovered the girl's lifeless body after about three hours of searching, around 20:15 p.m.

An investigation, entrusted to the gendarmerie of Pont-de-Beauvoisin by the prosecutor's office of Chambéry, was opened.
