The mother of a 10-year-old girl from Pennsylvania, known as Els O @elspa570 on TikTok, shared a video in which she asked her young daughter to open a CD cover. On the face of it, it sounds like a rather boring video, but when viewers found out that the girl got involved in this very simple task - they realized how old they are. I mean, we're old.

The video shows the daughter, Teigen, trying to open the cover of the beloved hits collection Now 21. Her mother recorded the 42 seconds during which the girl struggled to open the cover - without success. Teigen didn't even know what she was trying to open and repeatedly asked her mother, "What is this?" The video ended with the girl still fighting her with the cover of the disc.

The first attempt failed:

More than 2 million people have already watched this video, which has garnered more than 400,13 likes and 27,10 comments. "Give her a tape!" one wrote, while another added: "I'm only <> and I feel old." Another parent shared: "I tried to explain to my daughter about TV channels and live commercials and she laughed in complete disbelief."

Others argued that the girl's inability to open the cover was not indicative of her entire generation - but of her personally. "Okay, but it's not that hard to pay attention and see where you open it from... Whether she knows what a CD is or not," one wrote in the comments, while another added: "What's going on??? No one had to show me how to open a disc. I let my <>-year-old son open and I didn't have to explain it to him..."

Then came the second attempt:

In a follow-up video, Els gave Teigen a second chance to open the cover, this time instructing her: "It's like a book, so if you look at it like a book..." Teigen turned the cover, examined its top, and finally cracked the code. With the CD in her hands, Els explained to her daughter that she used to listen to CDs in the early 2000s, especially when she graduated from high school, and recalled arranging all her CDs in a large CD booklet protecting them. "Really?" asked a surprised Teigen, "so it's like a baseball card album? Or like Pokemon cards?" Yes, exactly," Els replied, claiming that she still had her CD book and would show it to her daughter.

I have a whole box of movies on CDs," one teenager claimed, while another added: "I'm 18 years old and I remember browsing through the CD book and finding what I wanted." Another reminisced: "As a 22-year-old, I miss the days when I was young and browsed my mom's CDs to choose what we would listen to in the car."
