The prosecutor's office of Lorient opened Sunday a criminal investigation for "voluntary homicide" after the discovery of the body of a 23-year-old woman Saturday in a river in Lanester (Morbihan). On Sunday evening, the prosecutor's office announced that a man had been taken into custody.
Saturday morning, around 10:30 am, walkers make a macabre discovery in Lanester (Morbihan), on the banks of the Blavet, at the pontoon of Saint-Guénaël reports Ouest-France. The body of a woman, lifeless, floats on the surface of the water. "We were walking our dogs and we saw a body drifting," the walkers told the newspaper.
The victim is quickly identified. Born in 1999, it is a young woman, named Iris C., from the country of Lorient, who was "totally unknown, until then, to the justice services in any capacity whatsoever," said Sunday the prosecutor of Lorient Stéphane Kellenberger to AFP.
Witnesses report to the Telegram, that she spent the evening in a bar, and would have left the establishment "not in her normal state" in the company of three men, around 3:30 am. Iris C. reportedly collapsed twice, one of the men left the group and another was seen carrying her in his arms.
This is the last trace of the young woman before the next morning. According to the Telegram, she was found naked, wearing only socks. Several shock marks and strangulation marks were also discovered on his body.
Who is the man in custody?
On Sunday evening, a man aged about 30 years was arrested in this case. "Close to the family circle of the victim", he was placed in custody "for the purpose of verification", said the prosecutor.
According to information from the local newspaper, this man was heavily intoxicated in the night from Friday to Saturday, at the time Iris C. disappeared. He would be the last person to have been seen with the victim in the city center of Lorient.
"No other element can be communicated at this stage, so as not to harm the ongoing investigations," the prosecutor said.
