The man suspected of killing his ex-wife and their two children, found dead Thursday in Dreux (Eure-et-Loir), was hospitalized after injuring himself voluntarily Monday, before his presentation to a magistrate of the prosecutor's office of Chartres, said Frédéric Chevallier, prosecutor of the Republic in Chartres.

Hospitalized in Coudray, near Chartres, he will be examined by a psychiatrist before being transferred again to the judicial city in the evening and presented to the JLD for the adversarial debate on his possible detention, explained the prosecutor.
Pre-trial detention requested
In the morning, the magistrate had announced in a statement the end of police custody and the transfer to a judge. He added that the prosecutor's office would take, before the liberty and detention judge, "requisitions for pre-trial detention".
Arrested late Saturday morning in Plaisir (Yvelines), this 46-year-old man was wanted after the discovery Thursday, in their pavilion of Dreux, the bodies of his ex-companion, a 36-year-old mother, and their two children, a 13-year-old girl and an 18-month-old boy. On Monday morning, the prosecutor announced that a judicial investigation would "be opened on charges of aggravated voluntary homicide".
This man, apparently hard of hearing, who speaks sign language, is suspected of having carried "forty stab wounds" to his ex-wife and a dozen to each child, but he "denies any involvement" in the facts, according to the prosecutor. He was sentenced in September 2021, for violence against his wife and daughter, to one year in prison, including four months suspended probation, with the prohibition to contact them. A few hours before the discovery of the bodies, he had posted two messages on Facebook accusing his wife of cheating on him and hitting his daughter, accompanied by photos showing bruises on a forearm.
