Powertrain technology: Porsche focuses on e-mobility – supplemented by e-fuels
Even Porsche has not been able to resist the trend towards electric mobility and has been producing the battery-electric sports car Taycan since 2019, which shares the platform with the Audi e-tron GT. By 2030, the Stuttgart-based carmaker wants to deliver 80 percent of its new vehicles to customers fully electrically, as Barbara Frenkel, Member of the Board of Management for Procurement, recently emphasized. Nevertheless, not so long ago, Porsche commissioned a pilot plant for the production of e-fuels in Chile.
The Stuttgart-based carmaker hopes that the synthetic fuel will quickly reduce the CO₂ emissions of existing vehicles. The topic could also become important in areas where there is still hardly any charging infrastructure.
