Shooting in Nice: two people arrested after a chase with the police

A shooting broke out in the district of Moulins in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) this Wednesday morning. Two men, suspected of having participated, were arrested by the police a few kilometers away, Avenue de la Bornala, after a chase with the police. One of the two individuals is seriously wounded, he was shot in the abdomen at Les Moulins, according to information from Nice-Matin.

It was the residents who warned the police, after hearing shots at the Mills, around 11 am. One person filmed part of the scene from an apartment. He posted the video on social media. We see two people dressed all in black, face hidden. One of them is heavily armed. The second falls to the ground, visibly wounded by a shot. He managed to crawl and thanks to his accomplice, reach a scooter parked a few meters away. The two individuals fled.

According to Nice-Matin, they then boarded a car and were taken care of by the police. In the chase, they allegedly collided with another scooter. Injured, the vital prognosis of the biker is not engaged, according to the local media. Their race ended up on Avenue de la Bornala, where their car ended up on the roof. The area had been cordoned off by the police.

A territory "plagued by drug trafficking"

On Twitter, the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi "congratulated" the police for their intervention: "Thank you to the police for not giving up in the face of trafficking and these criminals. " According to him, the fleeing individuals "were found thanks" to the city's surveillance cameras.

The LR president of the Department, Eric Ciotti, also wanted to welcome the action of the police on Twitter and to bring his "support to the inhabitants who for years have been living in fear. It is high time to reconquer this territory plagued by drug trafficking! In a second tweet published in the evening, he asked the government "to commit unprecedented means and simultaneously hit traffickers and consumers".
