A fifty-year-old teacher was stabbed to death Tuesday night at her home in Étinehem-Méricourt (Somme), and her son, a high school student, placed in custody, said the gendarmerie and the mayor of the commune.
It was the young man, born in 2006, who alerted the emergency services by indicating that he had killed his mother, said the mayor, Franck Beauvarlet. Aged 56, the victim was a teacher in a college in Albert (Somme), he said.
Stabbed repeatedly
At least seven stab wounds were made, he said, adding that there was no sign of such violence in the family.
Neither the alleged perpetrator nor the victim were known to the gendarmerie, the latter said. The incident occurred around 20 p.m. at the family home, she said. An investigation was opened and entrusted to the research brigade of Péronne (Somme).
