It could be 5:00, 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning, you try to suck out the last minutes of your sweet night's sleep when the dream is interrupted by the growl of a diesel engine, the whistle of hydraulic arms, the slamming of the tin lid, the beeps of reverses and shouts of "You pass, you pass, go!" We are full of appreciation for sanitation workers, perhaps the most effective, efficient and necessary element in any local authority – but at these moments, come on, we don't like them very much.

So that's one scene that Pilotcar would love to save at least some residents, in some cities with one of its more interesting tools, the urban garbage disposal version of the P1000. But wait, what's a version of a model all of a sudden? Who is Filotkar, anyway, and what does she want to do here?

Turkish tram manufacturer Filotakar was founded in 2011 out of an older company of the same name that has been active since the 60s as a supplier of the automotive industry, and still does so today alongside other arms supplying molds for plastic casting molds and even office chairs.

Today, as a manufacturer of electric vehicles, its offerings are divided into two main model families – the PC family which are operational vehicles (generically known as "Clubcars" or "Golfit") and small trucks called the P1000 that are fully licensed for road.

In the PC family, which includes operational tools, which are limited to movement in operational vehicle areas only and are not authorized to travel on the road, Pilocar offers a variety of tools on the same basis. These differ in dimensions, in the number of seats ranging from two to eight, in various configurations that extend from passengers, a closed or open crate, and even a tool with the ability to evacuate casualties while lying down. There is also a model designed for unpaved traffic with elevation and off-road tires.

In terms of propulsion, there are three engines; 13, 16.95 and 30.5 hp. with top speeds ranging between 24 or 45 km/h depending on the model. and between two battery packs; Lead with 11.52 kWh, or 9.7 kWh lithium, the driving range is 80 km in both configurations but with a difference in charging times - 9 hours for lead and 6 hours for lithium.

The cargo carrying capacity reaches up to 800 kg in the cargo configuration.

Prices: from NIS 40,60 for the two-seater model to NIS 6,<> for the <>-seater model.

The P1000 family targets the urban operational vehicle market. This is a vehicle with a yellow license, meaning that it is allowed to move on roads, but not highways, and is intended for local authorities or cities that want to replace their vehicle fleet with quiet, economical to maintain, NIS 6.5 for a full working day according to the importer's declaration, and environmentally friendly.

The vehicle, which comes in three body configurations, also appeals to the private-commercial market, where it can be equipped with a closed crate and distributed goods within cities without having to bring large trucks into crowded and congested areas thanks to its compact dimensions, with 3.58 meters from end to end and a rotation radius of 4.6 meters. Despite these dimensions, a loading capacity of up to 1 ton and crates of up to 2,700 liters should be enough for distribution in urban complexes.

The propulsion is by means of an electric motor of 30 hp, the top speed is 55 km/h and the battery capacity ranges from 13 to 26 kWh from which the driving range is also derived, which will reach up to a declared 220 km with the large one. Charging times are 4-6 hours for the small battery or 7-9 hours for the large one.

According to the importer's calculations, the daily operating cost of the vehicle is NIS 6.5 to the cost of charging it at the full range, the same as the price of a liter of gasoline. These must be combined with insurance costs of NIS 1,500-2,000, much less than a pickup truck, for example. In addition, the tools offer operational flexibility in the ability to change the purpose of use between a cleaning vehicle, garbage collection or municipal inspection with relative ease, thus creating what is known as "operational continuity" that saves the use of two or three dedicated vehicles.

So far, however, local authorities have been in no hurry to switch their fleet to small electric vehicles. Lubinski itself has been importing similar Gofil vehicles since 2018, delivering only 150 units in five years. Municipalities are struggling to dispense with Isuzu and Toyota pickups, which sometimes work as private vehicles, providing greater flexibility in moving around big cities.

The prices of the P1000 vary according to the configuration, starting at NIS 129,163 and rising up to NIS <>,<> for the garbage collection box configuration.

But in the end, such a dedicated tool also has its drawbacks, at least from the point of view of the end user, the one who has become accustomed to the Berlingo or his private van being able to perform a variety of tasks that are not necessarily directly related to work. And in fact, in quite a few of these positions it is part of the employee's "terms of employment."

The state, for its part, is in no hurry to intervene and encourage the authorities to switch to quieter operational tools that are free of exhaust emissions. The tax on these vehicles is the same as on larger trams, 20% sales tax now and 35% next year. In Europe, on the other hand, such people are exempt from taxation.
