Terrible afternoon in the Rhône. Two young men drowned at two different sites in less than two hours. The first victim, a young man whose age has not been disclosed but who would be a minor, was reported missing around 15:40 p.m. in the town of Irigny, report our colleagues from Progress.
Quickly, a huge rescue device was deployed with no less than thirty firefighters. Samu, divers, surface rescuers, canine teams, a civil security helicopter... Despite all these efforts, the body of the young man, who could be spotted by a firefighter, could not be brought back to life.
His death was recorded by the doctor of the Samu, at the scene of the tragedy. Then, still according to our colleagues of the regional daily, around 17:30 p.m., it is on a leisure base, in Condrieu, that the rescuers were alerted to the disappearance of a young man of 17 years while he was bathing. This time, divers and firefighters were able to find the victim more quickly.
Leading cause of death by accident among under-25s
She was taken care of by the Samu de l'Isère team in emergency. In the evening, while major storms broke out in the department, the state of health of the young man was still unknown. A few dozen kilometers away, in the neighboring department of Isère, a young child of seven years lost his life, drowned in a swimming pool, adds the radio France Bleu.
