A 33-year-old man was arrested last Monday after falling into a set ambush in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis) by the brother of a teenager he allegedly harassed and sexually assaulted. The thirty-year-old ended up throwing himself into the waters of the Canal de l'Ourcq to escape the anger of the young man, flanked by two friends. After being rescued, he was picked up by a police patrol. He will be tried in July before the Paris Criminal Court.
The case begins in October 2022 in Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis). At the Mairie bus station in Aubervilliers, a 15-year-old girl is approached by a homeless man. This Afghan, in an irregular situation on French territory, offers to have sex for payment. What the girl, domiciled in Pantin, refuses on the spot.

Three months later, the SDF met her again, in the same place. This time, he is more pressing. He isolates her in a nearby metro station, before reiterating his proposal of paid sex. To get out of the clutches of this man, the schoolgirl agrees to give him her Snapchat contact.
A trap set via the teen's Snapchat account
Another chance meeting, on May 26. This time, the man starts running after his victim, who is in the company of a friend. The two girls manage to sow it by boarding a bus. At the end, the young victim confides in her brother. He then decides to trap his sister's attacker, with the help of two friends. With his sister's Snapchat account, he gives her an appointment on May 29 at the Grands Moulins de Pantin, along the Canal de l'Ourcq.
Arrived on the spot, the undocumented rushes on the girl. He allegedly touched her chest over the clothes. That's when the victim's brother and his two friends step in. Getting frightened, the attacker throws himself into the canal. He is rescued by passers-by, who immobilize him until the arrival of a patrol from the police station of the nineteenth arrondissement of Paris.
The Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation, and referred the matter to the Brigade for the Protection of Minors of the Paris judicial police. In custody, the thirty-year-old denied the facts of which he is accused. The reported victim maintained his accusations. "Video recordings from the City of Aubervilliers confirmed the victim's statements on the facts of May 26, when she fled with a friend," said a source close to the investigation.
At the end of his police custody, the accused was referred to the Paris prosecutor's office. The defendant will be tried on July 4 before the 15th chamber of the Paris Criminal Court for "sexual assault on a minor over fifteen years of age and sexual harassment," says the Paris prosecutor's office. He was remanded in custody pending the hearing.
