The end of an era, Subaru, the Japanese manufacturer that more or less knew Israel about the legendary 1,600cc engine capacity, detracts this engine version from its range and is left with only the 2,000cc engine in the XV. And don't call it that anymore, because from now on the trade name attached to it is Crosstrek only - in line with the American market, a name that until now has been reserved for some of the accessory versions of the outgoing model. What doesn't align with them is the marketing of the powerful 2 hp 5.182-liter engine, which will remain in the US and will not reach us.
Let's start with what's left, and that's the car's platform, which is still based on the XV introduced in 2017 but updated several strokes over the years, and which itself is based on the Impreza. What will continue to serve the Crosstrek is the atmospheric 2-litre Boxer engine. It produces 152 hp and 20 kg and, through a sequential gearbox, will drive all four wheels with the manufacturer's successful traction control, the X-Mode. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 10.5 seconds and a top speed of 198 km/h.

The exterior dimensions are also unchanged: 4.48 meters long, 1.8 meters wide, 1.6 meters tall and a modest wheelbase in terms of modern family cars of 2.67 meters. Ground clearance remains very respectable at 22 cm, approach and abandonment angles are 18 and 30.1 degrees respectively.
SUVs will be delighted to hear that Subaru has withstood the breach and maintained proper tire dimensions with a 60-cut on a 17-inch rim. The technical specifications state that the engine volume is an impressive 564 liters, but for those who want to charge all the camping equipment, let's say stop for a moment, the growth from about 300 liters so far to this figure is not due to a new patent for luggage storage, but to a different method of calculating the volume: according to the American standard, which measures up to ceiling height and not the backs of the rear seats.

The more significant changes in the model are recorded in the field of safety systems, where the EyeSight camera array receives a third camera with a wider angle than before. It will offer adaptive cruise control, lane departure correction (warning only so far), automatic braking, no keeping distance warning - all this in the base version, for blind-spot vehicle warning and rear cross-traffic warning you'll have to go for the top two trim levels.
In general, the equipment differences between the different versions make the base version (touring) not very attractive when you take apart what it misses - steering wheel distance adjustment, gear control, leather coating for the steering wheel and gear lever, control of the box from the steering wheel, a single USB socket (a pair at the front and a pair at the rear at the higher trim levels), car-colored handles, keyless entry and also a multimedia display and control split into two 7-inch screens (11.6 inches vertical at the higher trim levels), With compatibility with Android and Apple devices.
In the middle trim level, an armrest for the rear seats, fog lights, car-colored door handles and a matte grey grille frame are also added, a 6-speaker audio system (instead of 4). The high level of finish "Executive" includes a sunwindow and electric orientation for the driver's seat.

With the reduction of the 1.6-liter version, whose price was NIS 145,160, the entry step to the Crosstrek naturally becomes more expensive. And stands at NIS 170,180 for the touring trim level, NIS 2022,156 for the luxury trim level and up to NIS 5,<> for the executive trim level. This on the one hand means that the entry version has not increased in price compared to the outgoing XV (which cost NIS <>,<> until December <>), on the other hand, at the higher level of finish it already shows the price of the entry-level version of the Forester.
The Crosstrek, like the XV before it, does not face direct competition in the local market. Its dimensional counterparts don't have its off-road capabilities and the Dacia Duster, which offers all-wheel drive and off-road capabilities, doesn't have an automatic transmission and a significant gap in safety, warranty (<> years at Subaru, plus payment today) and equipment.
