A 39-year-old Pole was shot dead in the night from Thursday to Friday in Tain-l'Hermitage (Drôme), following a conflict with the alleged perpetrator of the shooting, said Friday the prosecutor's office of Valence.
The victim was hit by a 12-gauge rifle shot, before being "quickly transported to hospital, where he died of his wounds," the prosecutor's office told AFP.
Murder investigation opened
"The accused, aged 26, was placed in custody," said the prosecutor's office, according to which "it appears from the first elements of the investigation a situation of conflict between the accused and the victim".
According to France Bleu Drôme-Ardèche, which revealed the case, the victim would have presented himself in the evening of Thursday at the car garage where he had worked to claim an unpaid wage. He would then have suffered this fatal shot.
An investigation for murder was opened and entrusted to the Romans-sur-Isère research brigade. According to the local media, the suspect is already known to the justice services.
