New judicial component after this terrible accident occurred in the nineteenth arrondissement of Paris. The driver of a car that fatally mowed down a pedestrian on September 3 in the capital was indicted and imprisoned on Tuesday for aggravated manslaughter and refusal to comply, a judicial source told AFP today.

At 3:29 am precisely, a police crew from the Pantin police station asked a motorist to stop his vehicle, a BMW 1 series, while he was driving along Avenue Edouard-Vaillant in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis) between the sensitive district of Quatre-Chemins and downtown Pantin. But the latter refuses to submit to the police. Then begins a chase that quickly turns towards the streets of the capital, as well as on the inner ring road.

After only a few minutes, the driver managed to distance the police forces at the Porte de la Villette tunnel. Accident in front of a club

Upon his release from the hospital, a judge indicted him Tuesday for manslaughter by driver, aggravated by several circumstances: hit and run, suspended license and drunkenness, according to the same judicial source. The man was also indicted for refusing to comply directly exposing others to a risk of death, added the same source. A liberty and detention judge remanded him in custody.
