Land Rover Volar, also with 5 years warranty/manufacturer site
The new cars are becoming more and more complex, the arms race of more power, more technology, more safety and comfort accessories dictate sophisticated and advanced systems with each new generation that comes out, and along with the refinement and complexity comes the potential for malfunctions. The "insurance certificate" of customers from those unexpected malfunctions or problems resulting from a failure in the production of the car is the warranty that the manufacturer gives to the car. That is, its willingness to stand behind the product in its first years of maintenance and ensure that everything is in order.
And you have to understand, for the automaker, repairs during the warranty period, even if these are taken into account in the economic account of car pricing and the business plan it builds, is a headache they would gladly give up. Beyond the basic disruption of the direction from which the money should flow (from your pocket to theirs), the only thing it can gain here is a customer who won't complain and give her a bad name. To get an idea of the economic implications, you can take the last warranty event we reported to you in July of this year, the extension of the warranty for Audi's Q3, Q8 and e-tron models from the production years 2018 to 2020 by another two years for solar windows only due to leaks - the estimated cost of the value of the benefit is NIS 800,<>, again, only for two years and only for the solar windows.

And it's not that long or short warranty duration is a guarantee of a reliable car or not, but it's certainly an indication of how confident the manufacturer is in standing behind this product. The latest to join the club of manufacturers extending the warranty period on its cars is Jaguar Land Rover, or JLR for short, which now provides a 5-year warranty to Discovery, Defender and Rover customers. A complementary move to that made by Jaguar back in July 2022.
Part of the rationale behind this move is to strengthen the value of the car in the used market. A car that, even after say, 3 years, still enjoys a 3-year warranty certainly provides some peace of mind to the buyer and when the used car buyer has this confidence, we are one step closer to bringing the first customer to the showroom as well.
As mentioned, the warranty is extended from 150 years or 5,8 km to 160 years, but without change in km.
For the battery most of them offer the standard warranty, <> years or <> thousand km.
