With the ambition to reach 700,000 electrified vehicles (electric and plug-in hybrids) by 2025 out of a total of 2 million vehicles in the fleet, Arval is leading the transition to cleaner mobility. A leadership confirmed also in Italy, where the multinational BNP Paribas Group manages over 247,000 vehicles, boasts more than 70,000 customers, including individuals, VAT numbers, small and medium-sized enterprises up to large companies.
Economic, social, civic and environmental responsibility are the four pillars on which Arval's global action is based, which has as its motto "Life is a journey made of travel" and as its objective "Improving people's lives through personalized and sustainable travel". An action that goes far beyond the concept of mobility, as demonstrated by the projects "1 Million hours 2 help" and "1 Electrified Vehicles = 1 Tree".
The first, in fact, is the program dedicated to Arval employees which aims to commit to a more inclusive and sustainable society. This global solidarity initiative allows all Arval employees to participate in volunteering and solidarity initiatives during working hours. Since its launch, Arval's 8,000 employees worldwide have demonstrated their commitment by totaling more than 32,000 volunteer hours.
The second project, "1 Electrified Vehicles = 1 Tree", focuses on the protection of the environment and biodiversity, and provides for each plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle rented a tree planted in a location within the same country where the vehicle is delivered, including Italy.
The development of green mobility is one of the fulcrums of Arval's action also in our Peninsula, where the branch of the multinational of Rueil-Malmaison, specialized in long-term car rental and innovative and sustainable mobility solutions, aims to carve out a leading role also with the implementation of agreements and specific projects to encourage the use of more ecological mobility.
Among the many, to mention, finally, the launch of an Energy Card, a card that allows users of Arval electrified vehicles to fill up on tap easily, quickly and without complications of any kind, in a European network of 300,000 columns. A card combined with an app that, with a few "taps", helps the driver to find the nearest free charging point with his smartphone.
With over 45,000 electric and hybrid vehicles out of a total of 247,658 at the end of 2022, for a share up 38% compared to the 2021 fleet, Arval Italia is also actively contributing to achieving the objectives of the Group's strategy, which by 2025 envisages a 35% reduction in the average CO2 per kilometre per vehicle emitted by its fleet.
Global and local targets that integrate perfectly with the theme of energy saving that is at the heart of the Sustainable Mobility Week 2023, which has just begun. "The spread of increasingly sustainable mobility is a pillar of our activity - underlines Dario Casiraghi, General Manager of Arval Italia -, in the context of the ambitious objectives set out in our global strategic plan. We therefore have the will to find winning and innovative solutions to facilitate this process. Our intention is to act proactively towards our customers through advice on issues related to energy transition processes and responding with concrete initiatives to their needs and those of all our drivers, who must be able to take advantage of a smart, accessible and effective experience".
