Actually, police officers only wanted to point out his defective lighting to a taxi driver. What they then discovered, they had "not yet experienced."
There are numerous indicator lights on the dashboard of a car. Interpreting them is basically child's play: green means that everything is in order and ready for use. When it comes to orange warning signs, it becomes critical: There is a mistake that should be addressed soon. If red lights come on, you should act immediately: because then there is usually a problem that can cause greater damage if you do nothing. A taxi driver solved the warning light problem in a very special way – but not in the sense of the law enforcers.
"Not yet experienced": Police officers appalled by the condition of a taxi
It was actually a kind of routine process: In Bochum, police officers watched as guests got into a taxi. The officers noticed a defective lighting – and wanted to draw the attention of the taxi driver to it. What they then discovered, the "experienced officers had not yet experienced," according to the police. As the law enforcement officers find out when looking inside the car, the corresponding warning symbols were not visible. The simple reason: they were covered with black tape. And as it turned out, it wasn't just the lighting that was defective on the vehicle.

Taxi with 39 defects: fuel filter ground on the V-belt
As a photo of the police shows, several areas in the cockpit had been provided with black tape. When the police removed it, "the cockpit lit up like a Christmas tree." According to the officials, all systems had malfunctions: power steering, ABS, ESP and airbags, for example, were without function. Brake discs as well as engine and axle suspension of the car were "worn above average". The fuel filter hung loosely in the engine compartment and ground on the V-belt. All in all, the taxi had a proud 39 defects.
"Highly astonished": Even the expert was surprised by the bad condition of the taxi
The vehicle was seized and presented to an expert. And he, too, was "highly astonished" by the condition of the car. The taxi was put out of service. Drivers and companies are now threatened with a fine in addition to towing fees and expert costs.
