Despite the points of view of other brands, which are showing hesitation and second thoughts towards a radical change of technology in the near future, Mercedes focuses exclusively on electric, as explained at the Genoa boat show, Marc Langenbrinck, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Italy. This, not because the brand is not open to other solutions, such as fuel cell cars, already made by the house of the star since 2008, but for the simple fact that, to date, battery electric cars are already ready to meet the needs of users.
Furthermore - he said - there have been huge investments on electric cars and on the evolution of battery packs, so it is clear that going back would represent a resounding mistake.
"It is useless to go looking for alternative solutions - explained Langenbrinck - when the electric car already exists, which is now mature, and must only be developed in the most suitable way". Rather, Langenbrinck exposed himself on the need to work in a choral way, all following the same path, and without hesitation to promote the spread of zero-impact cars, especially now that car manufacturers are proposing this technology in a conscious and convinced way.
"It's like in the game of football - he added - you have to build a maneuver to bring an action to a successful conclusion by playing all in the same team".
At the moment, however, the infrastructure does not grow in step with the proposals of car manufacturers, so several brands are equipping themselves with their own network: "but this is not the solution".
There is a need to be able to count on a wide diffusion of charging points, Langenbrinck recalled, otherwise doubt is generated in the buyer, who risks losing confidence in a solution that works and meets all the needs of the modern motorist.
