The Paralympic athletes involved in the Obiettivo Tricolore relay made a stop at the headquarters of BMW Group Italia. The international course, which opened on Saturday 9 September and will end in Paris on 1 October. The project was born from the idea of Paralympic athlete Alex Zanardi in 2020, to symbolize the spirit of restart after the lockdown.
70 Paralympic athletes were involved, engaged in passing the baton riding handbikes, bicycles, Olympic wheelchairs, running and from this year also canoeing. The members of the relay belong to Obiettivo 3, the recruitment and introduction project to sport for people with disabilities wanted by Zanardi and are specialized in disciplines such as paracycling, Paralympic athletics and paratriathlon.
During the morning of September 19, the athletes Edoardo Rinaldi, Paolo Lucarelli, Myrta Pace and Antony Leonardi left the Certosa di Pavia and made a stop in the direction of Milan at the headquarters of BMW Italy. They were welcomed by the company's management and institutional representatives, who participated in a moment of sharing and confirmation of the partnership that has been in place for several years between BMW Italia and Obiettivo 3.
"It was an immense pleasure and a great emotion for us - said Massimiliano Di Silvestre, president and CEO of BMW Italia - to welcome the athletes of Obiettivo Tricolore to our headquarters. Once again we were able to see for ourselves the value of the concept dear to Alex Zanardi, our brand ambassador, of the residual talent, that is, the ability to use the remaining talents to do exceptional things, like this relay race from Cortina to Paris".
