The images of the accident are terrible. Wednesday morning, a tanker truck that was carrying 10 cubic meters of hydrocarbons and was traveling on a departmental road in the Var, caught fire after going off the road, report our colleagues from Var-Matin and BFMTV. The driver of the truck, trapped in the flames in her cab, did not survive.
The accident took place on the RD125 at the level of the town of Le Muy (Var), around 10:30 am. According to information from Var-Matin, the tanker truck hit the safety rails, located on the edges of the road, for nearly 200 m. The vehicle then went off the road, before coming to rest below, near the river L'Argens.

It was at the time of this fall on several meters that the truck caught fire, assure our colleagues. The 26-year-old driver was trapped in her cab and unfortunately did not survive the fire.
More than fifty firefighters were mobilized following this accident, in order to limit the spread of the fire in the surrounding forests but also to limit the pollution of the Argens River. The RD125, as well as some adjacent roads, are closed to traffic until further notice.
