We came close to tragedy. As told by our colleagues from La Provence on Wednesday, a 10-year-old girl was violently charged by wild boars in Marseille, as she got out of the Luminy tennis club (a district of Marseille), a stone's throw from the Calanques National Park. An area in which wild boars are numerous and that she used to go and observe with her father.
But this time, Giulia and her father decide to go as close as possible to the herd, where there are many marcassins, to see them better. But this approach will be badly perceived by adult wild boars, probably fearing that intruders will prey on their young.
"I was in shock"
Thus, when she has just got out of her father's car, the schoolgirl is violently loaded at the level of the legs by an imposing male, before a blade also attacks her. "It happened in a split second, I didn't even have time to realize it, I was in shock," she tells our colleagues.
Fortunately for Giulia, she had the reflex to quickly get back into the vehicle where her father could see frightened that his daughter's legs were bleeding. He then quickly took her to the emergency room where the caregivers found gashes of nearly 4 cm impossible to suture. Injuries obviously caused by the tusks of wild boars but not by bites.
