The fire mobilized up to fifty firefighters. A fire in Wazemmes, a district of the city of Lille (North), killed one person in the night Wednesday to Thursday, report several local newspapers.
Firefighters were called between 2 and 3 a.m. last night for a fire on the second floor of a building on Louis-Faure Street. One person, who had taken refuge on the roof, as well as five other people were evacuated, reports La Voix du Nord.
In all, about fifty firefighters worked until the early morning to be able to extinguish the fire. According to France 3, on the three floors of the building and in the duplex at the back the damage is very important. Only the accommodation in the attic was a little spared.
After extinguishing the fire and securing the scene, firefighters began a reconnaissance of the building. It was there that they discovered the lifeless body of a man in his forties in the rubble.
The emergency services were still clearing the road this Thursday morning, according to the two media. The origin of the fire is currently unknown.
