An explosion occurred in a house in La Meauffe this Saturday around 9:30 am, a town located 9 km from Saint-Lô (Manche), says Ouest-France. The house is located at a place called La Cour Talvas, on the departmental road D 974 between Pont-Hébert and Saint-Lô.
A 64-year-old man died and another was seriously injured and hospitalized in Caen. A third, aged 51, also injured, was taken to the Saint-Lô hospital.
Quoted by Ouest-France, the mayor of the commune, Pascal Langlois, describes a "huge" explosion. It would have been caused by the addition of a flammable product in a fire that would have been lit by the persons concerned. Two buildings near the blast were hit by the blast. A security perimeter is set up and the sector is to be avoided, advises France Bleu.
Twenty firefighters from the rescue centers of Saint-Lô, Saint-Clair and Canisy and three ambulances are mobilized to take care of the victims and avoid any new explosion. The Dragon 50 helicopter of the Civil Security is also on site, says Tendance Ouest.
