It could not be otherwise, given the strong presence of innovation in Peugeot's DNA. The New 2008 is a cutting-edge model for its modernity, which ranges from the electrification of the engines to connectivity (which is one of the fundamental assets to meet the demands of new customers) through the improvement of driving dynamics and ADAS solutions for active safety.
With a range of over 400 km, the Peugeot E-2008 is, first and foremost, the leading model among the 100% electric B-segment SUVs. A milestone achieved with the new engine (already present on the E-208 and E-308) which provides a maximum power increased by 15% to 115 kW/156 hp, while the battery has 'grown' from 50 to 54 kWh.
At the same time, the engineers of the Lion have made a great effort on all the other elements that contribute to determining efficiency to arrive at the increase in performance and that of autonomy.
Now the E-2008 goes well beyond the 345 km range (WLTP combined) of the previous generation and reaches - again in the mixed homologation cycle - up to 406 km. The new E-2008 is available with two types of on-board chargers. A 7.4 kW single-phase device is standard, while an 11 kW three-phase charger can be added as an option.
To obtain one of the typical recharges, the one to restore the battery from 20% to 80%, E-2008 requires a stop of 30 minutes if the public column delivers 100 kW, 4 hours and 40 minutes with a 7.4kW Wall Box and 11 hours and 10 minutes - i.e. the space of an overnight stop - with the connection to a reinforced 3.2 kW socket.
But the New 2008 is also an efficient model with internal combustion engines. It is offered with the 100 hp 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, the 130 hp 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol PureTech 130 and the 1.5-litre BlueHDi 130 4-cylinder diesel engine delivering 130 hp. These last two engines are combined (standard in the diesel and as an option in the petrol) with the 8-speed EAT8 automatic transmission.
As required by a state-of-the-art model such as 2008, Peugeot from the beginning of next year will launch a state-of-the-art 48V Hybrid engine, consisting of a new generation 136 hp PureTech petrol engine combined with a new electrified 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox that includes an electric motor.
Thanks to a battery that recharges while driving, this solution offers additional torque at low revs and achieves up to 15% lower fuel consumption. In urban driving, the new 2008 equipped with the 48V Hybrid system can operate more than 50% of the time in all-electric mode and therefore with zero tailpipe emissions.
In the new 2008, the 'density' of technologies available to drivers and passengers is also increasing. The car is now equipped as standard with the Peugeot i-Connect system, which can become i-Connect Advanced as an option. Both are controlled via the central 10-inch high-definition touchscreen, easily customizable, with multiple screen to take advantage of widgets or shortcuts, very simple to use and responsive like that of a smartphone.
The menus can be scrolled from left to right, or up and down for notifications. A three-finger tap brings up the app dashboard. It's easy to come back to the main page at any time by pressing the home button on the keyboard below the screen. The Peugeot i-Connect system offers full connectivity through wireless mirroring for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In the case of the i-Connect Advanced version, there is a high-performance TomTom connected navigation system. The map is displayed on the entire 10-inch screen for easy readability. The system is updated 'over the air' (OTA).
With the "Ok Peugeot" command of the i-Connect Advanced system of the New 2008 - which uses natural language voice recognition - it is also possible to access requests and commands related to infotainment functions. To facilitate use, the system integrates on-board documentation and tutorials.
