The U.S. is cracking down on electric cars with Chinese components. Starting next month, electric cars not made in the U.S. with batteries that include Chinese components will not be able to access the relief offered by the Biden administration. Electric vehicles will also not qualify for Inflation Reduction Act incentives if they are manufactured by companies with significant ties to the Beijing government or through agreements with companies based in China or controlled by Beijing.
"With these guidelines and the clarity they offer, we ensure that the future of electric cars in the U.S. is made in America," said John Podesta, Biden's clean energy adviser.
