A very big catch. On Tuesday, a drug trafficking network was dismantled in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) after a vast police operation, the prosecutor's office announced in a press release issued late afternoon. Eight people were arrested and taken into custody.
The police intervened in several areas of the Nice area, and in particular in the Liserons district, where there was a supply point for this network. This operation allowed the police to get their hands on a nice loot.
188 kg of cannabis and 1.7 kg of cocaine
"The searches carried out led to the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics (approximately 188 kg of cannabis and 1.7 kg of cocaine) as well as the total sum of 492,000 euros, two handguns and a shotgun," Nice public prosecutor Damien Martinelli said in a statement.
The eight people arrested are currently being questioned by the police. Their police custody, which began in the wake of their arrest, can last a maximum of four days, according to the prosecutor's office.
