Lexus was a prominent presence at the Kenshiki forum organized in Brussels by the Toyota Group. During the event, the new models that will arrive on the market in the coming years were anticipated, with the debut of new technologies that will accelerate the transition of the premium brand to an all-electric range. And above all, the importance of the new Arene operating system (to create intelligent connections between the driver and the car) and the Gigacasting production process was reiterated, which will simplify car structures, improving performance and allowing greater design freedom.

The next generations of Lexus BEVs will take advantage of the opportunities of downsizing and reducing the complexity and weight of structural parts to offer more versatile packaging. This new modular approach divides the structure into three parts – front, middle and rear – allowing the front and rear modules to be produced each in less than two minutes. The novelty will also reduce repair costs, ensuring that minor accidents do not result in too high an expense for customers.
Lexus is banking on advances in electrification technologies that will enable a further evolution of the Driving Signature. It is a constant and rewarding connection between the driver and the car that offers comfort, safety and control at all times. Among the opportunities that will be present in the upcoming Lexus models is to customize the character and driving feel of each model.
A generational leap that was exemplified with the LF-ZC (Lexus Future Zero-emission Catalyst) making its European debut at the Kenshiki forum. It is the anticipation of a new sedan that will arrive in 2026 and that brings together Lexus' know-how in electrification, offering elegant proportions, a low center of gravity, a spacious cabin and a design that combines functionality and pleasant aesthetics.
Also shown in Brussels was the LF-ZL (Lexus Future Zero-emission Luxury) study, which foreshadows a high-end electric SUV in which several important innovations are present - well before its launch. This is the case with the use of bamboo as a specific material for the cabin, a solution that harks back to Japanese tradition, but also reflects the sustainable approach of future Lexus projects.
Both concepts showcased at the Kenshiki forum combine functionality and beauty with a new design theme called 'provocative simplicity'. It is the evolution of Lexus' identity, which uses refined and simple shapes at the same time to create - as is required of premium models - a presence of great impact.
In spring 2024 - it was announced at Kenshiki - the current RZ range will expand to include a new front-wheel drive version and subsequently, the option of steer-by-wire One Motion Grip will be offered for the first time. Also planned for the future is a system in Lexus electric models that replicates the feel, operation and sound (only in the cabin) of a manual transmission, a new dimension in the mission to focus on driving pleasure. By the end of this year, Lexus expects to reach around 74,000 registrations in Europe, an increase of almost 50% compared to 2022 performance, making Lexus one of the fastest-growing premium brands. It has done so with a proposal that includes three completely new models in the fundamental D and E SUV segments - namely the NX, RX and RZ - all with hybrid, plug-in and electric powertrain options.
For Toyota's premium brand, the trend will continue in 2024, supporting the ambitious six-figure sales result in Europe. To do so, Lexus will be able to count on the opportunities to expand its customer base with the arrival of the LBX, the brand's first urban crossover which, according to the company, "challenges the established hierarchy of luxury cars, demonstrating that premium equipment, quality and driving pleasure can be offered in a small car package".
Another new element of Lexus' strategy is the new top-of-the-range LM (Luxury Mover) MPV, which has just arrived in Italy, while a new generation GX will be introduced globally in Eastern markets, i.e. a large SUV that offers maximum luxury with exceptional off-road capabilities.
