Two special Ford Ranger T1+ pick-ups will be at the start on January 5 of the 2024 edition of the Dakar rally raid which, as is known, takes place in Saudi Arabia. The two official crews of the M-Sport Ford team, Nani Roma-Alex Haro (at the start with the number 210) and the South Africans Gareth Woolridge-Boyd Dreyer (225) will attempt the adventure of one of the toughest motor races in the world. The great event organized by ASO that will end on January 19 after 7,923 km of grueling off-road routes (of which 4,676 timed) sees the return of the two-time overall winner Nani Roma, which returns to the Dakar after a year's break.
The M-Sport Ford team is taking part in the toughest and most famous raid in the world after a year of work, in which it has carried out numerous tests and participated in the Baja España (in which Rome finished in sixth place) and the Morocco Rally, which the two-time Dakar champion finished in third place. "I am happy and very motivated to be part of the Ford and M-Sport program - said Roma - After the personal crisis that I suffered and that did not allow me to compete in the last Dakar, I find myself once again in an extraordinary moment. Until a couple of years ago I arrived at the Dakar in the middle of my preparation as an athlete, while this year I had to make a great effort to be ready".
Speaking about the Ford Ranger T1+, Roma pointed out that the car "has been the subject of very hard work throughout the year.
Since arriving from South Africa, the Ranger has evolved tremendously. M-Sport did a great job and I made my contribution, advising on the areas to focus on the most."
"The important thing in a raid car is that it is durable, only when that happens does the next step come: to make it competitive. After Rally Morocco I think we now have the Ranger very ready to compete and do well. In the tests a few days ago in England we left him ready for the Dakar."
