Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited, the battery giant known globally as CATL, has announced that it will open a new international headquarters in Hong Kong, as part of its plan to include a presence in Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP).
According to information released by HKSTP, the signing of the memorandum of cooperation is scheduled for today, December 7.
According to a government source, this state-of-the-art Tech Centre will employ around 500 employees, including engineers and researchers from other disciplines.
For the operator of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, the initiative launched by the world's largest manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles would mark a result of great value for the push of the Hong Kong authorities to transform the metropolis into an innovation hub. This follows a similar announcement made by pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca.
