Last week, a voicemail from social media personality Adele Bespalov from a private WhatsApp conversation was leaked, creating a storm on social media. Yesterday (Thursday), in near-perfect timing, the messaging app added support for sending voice messages for one-time listening.
The new feature was first spotted in March 2023 by WABetainfo. In fact, back in 2021, WhatsApp launched the 'one-time viewing' feature for photos and videos to add another layer of privacy to messages.

"Now you can safely share sensitive information in a voice message – for example, if you want to read your credit card details to a friend or plan a surprise," WhatsApp's official blog reads. "To maintain consistency with the one-time viewing feature of photos and videos, one-time hearing voice messages are clearly marked with a 'disposable' icon and can only be played once."
The new feature will gradually roll out to all users on Android and iOS over the next few days.
