Former US senator Joseph Lieberman died at the age of 82 this Wednesday, March 27. He died from medical complications following a fall, his family said in a statement.

Lieberman was a senator in the state of Connecticut between 1989 and 2013, before filing his candidacy for the position as vice president of the United States in 2000, appearing on Al Gore's ballot. In 2003, then considered a “centrist” Democrat, he became a fervent supporter of the war in Iraq led by President George W. Bush, which caused his break with the Democratic Party.
