Marina Marzia Brambilla, vice-rector delegated to Teaching and Student Services, has been elected rector of the University of Milan. Elected today with 1,651 votes, the university will be 100 years old in 2024.

"It took 100 years, but we did it," the immediate comment of the new rector who will lead the university for the next 6 years. The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, sent his "congratulations" via social media to Brambilla. "I will meet her soon - she explained - to talk about the many projects we will work on together," said Sala. She is "the first woman to lead the University in 100 years of history," said the mayor. She has been working at the University since 2003 and is a full Professor of German Language and Linguistics. She served as Commissioner for National Scientific Licensing and was an evaluator of numerous projects and research, making a solid contribution to the development of German linguistics.
